Back in May when I was visiting Serbia, I brought along our updated and translated dossier and was able to hand-deliver it to the Adoption Unit of the Serbian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. And then we waited.....
A couple weeks ago I learned from the ministry that over the summer there were new children added to the list of those available for international adoption. No, Ianna was not on that list, but we haven't given up hope! What we HAVE learned is there IS a child coming home to another family very soon, and I cannot wait until I get permission to announce the particulars!
In the meantime, there is a little girl, who we call Ianna, who still needs prayer. She still needs a family. She still needs a great deal of medical care. She needs God to intervene on her behalf and get her out of a very scary place. We are able to travel with very little notice, and are anxious to be able to do so. I need to make this clear: We have no reason to believe this will happen to soon. But guess what else? We have no reason to believe it WON'T. What we DO know is that ALL of our documents, every.single.one.of.them, expires in May. If they expire before we're able to adopt again we will have to spend thousands of dollars to do everything over from scratch.
Later I'll post about a very difficult decision we had to make regarding one of Serbia's waiting children.
